Steam Industry: Boiler Company
We were recently contacted by a boiler welding company to modernize their outdated automated welding system for welding large pipes. The machine is controlled by an Allen Bradley programmable logic controller. Since the controller is outdated and no longer supported by the manufacturer, we were asked if we could replace the current PLC with a modern PLC.
The project involved rewriting 8 logic programs that the customer uses, removing the old plc and replacing it with a new Schneider PLC. The process was a bit involved due to the fact that the original programming language had features that aren’t available on the newer plcs, so rewriting software was necessary to complete the project.
Once the programming was complete, we sent a tech of ours to their plant, removed the old controller and installed the new controller. Once the machine was up and running, a few final adjustments were made to the software and even trained the customer on how to use the new software so they will be able to make future tuning adjustments as their products evolve.
Unfortunately, because of the proprietary nature of this project, we cannot post photos of this job.
